Biography
Guylaine is a warm, compassion, and empathetic provisional psychologist, dedicated to ensuring therapy is a profoundly positive and enriching journey for her clients.
Guylaine adopts a collaborative and holistic approach working at client’s individual pace in order to better assist them in identifying strategies to better manage their thoughts and behaviours and help them achieve their goals. Guylaine is always guided by her clients, taking the time to listen to their stories and understands the importance of building a strong therapeutic alliance.
Guylaine provides evidence-based treatments sourced from a range of modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and Positive Psychology. She integrates strategies from different approaches to suit the needs, circumstances, and preferences of each individual client.
Registered as a Provisional Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency), an Associate Member of the APS (Australian Psychological Society), a full member of the Association of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC) and a member of AAPI (Australian Association of Psychologists Inc), Guylaine brings a wealth of diverse experiences to her practice. She has also accumulated a diverse set of skills prior to qualifying as a Provisional Psychologist, evidenced thought her studies in law, work in Procurement, Executive Assistance and translator.
Guylaine was also a competitive athlete in her youth and has lived experience with issues related to performance anxiety.
Outside of work, Guylaine enjoys staying active, spending time with her family and keeping up with her Australian Cattle Dog.
Interest areas:
Guylaine has experience with a range of presentations including anxiety (generalised and specific), depression, stress, troubles of adjustment, workplace difficulties and trauma.
She is currently completing a Diploma of Dementia care and also has a special interest in older adults’ mental health.
