Michael Cheung - Psychologist (Parramatta & Hornsby)
Michael is a Psychologist with extensive experience working with adolescents, families and adults who are experiencing emotional, social, behavioural and mental health difficulties. Michael has worked in a wide range of settings including private, public, research and community i.e beyondblue, Lifeline support services, Headspace, disability services, Universities, and the Department of Health and Quitline. Having spent much of his life overseas he has a culturally sensitive therapeutic approach. He also enjoys working with clients across the lifespan; from young adolescents to geriatrics. Michael has a particular expertise in the assessment and treatment of adolescents with emotional difficulties.
Michael works collaboratively with his clients to reach their treatment goals by providing individualised support, utilising psychometrics and evidence-based therapies. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. His clinical interventions encompass the mind-body connection and compassion for self and others. His clients describe him as insightful, approachable and compassionate. Michael is passionate about helping clients achieve positive change in their lives, build resilience and foster stronger relationships. Michael speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
