Tara George - Registered Psychologist (Drummoyne)
Tara is a compassionate Psychologist with extensive experience supporting children and adolescents from diverse backgrounds, including the Aboriginal community, those in Out-Of-Home-Care and those with disabilities.
Tara works to build a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship to create a safe space where children and young people can work through their challenges and build resilience. Using a collaborative, client-centred approach, Tara empowers her young clients to overcome challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, anger management, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and complex trauma.
Tara works with children and young people directly and also collaborates with parents to create effective and supportive strategies for their children. She uses evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and elements of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), tailoring her interventions to meet each client’s unique needs.
Tara provides intervention and assessment services. She is an accredited facilitator of the ‘Tuning into Teens’ program, which assists parents in understanding and responding effectively to their adolescents’ emotional needs, fostering stronger connections and better communication.
In her time, Tara is happiest by the ocean—whether she’s surfing, diving, or floating in the water. She loves staying active and enjoys sharing moments with friends, family, and her dachshund, Darcy. Travelling the world to explore new places and cultures is a passion that inspires her.
