Melissa is a registered psychologist who focuses on building a strong therapeutic alliance rooted in empathy, understanding, and a commitment to empowering her clients to facilitate healing and growth.
Melissa has a background that blends corporate experience with a deep commitment to mental health and personal development. In her career in the corporate sector, Melissa’s roles involved working closely with individuals and organisations to strengthen leadership and employee capability, enhance performance, and improve organisational health.
Melissa’s experience in managing change and supporting professional development naturally progressed into a desire to assist clients on a more personal level, leading to her to a career in psychology.
As a psychologist, Melissa places importance on understanding the interconnections between thoughts, emotions, behaviour and physiology. She integrates evidence-based practices tailored to meet the personal needs of her clients. Her approach is collaborative,
creating a safe, supportive environment where clients can openly explore their concerns and build resilience. She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Working primarily with adults, Melissa’s areas of experience include anxiety, stress, depression, relationship and interpersonal difficulties, grief, trauma and work-related challenges. Melissa also has a special interest in supporting clients coping with chronic health conditions. Her personal experience in this area allows her to deeply connect with clients, offering insight and empathy towards their unique challenges.
Melissa holds the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Psychology from Macquarie University
- Diploma of Psychological Practice from the College of Professional Psychology
- Master of Management, People and Performance from Macquarie Graduate School of
Management (MGSM)
She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian
Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPI).
